Presentation of NGO A.A.I.O

 

The A.A.I.O. (Associação de Apoio à Infância e à Orientação) is an Angolan civil society organization founded on April 11, 1994, in Luanda, during a period when Angola was still recovering from years of conflict and social instability. From the outset, the organization has had a clear mission: to contribute to the human, educational, and social development of adolescents and young people in Angola.

A.A.I.O views youth not only as the future, but as a driving force capable of making a difference today. For this reason, the organization focuses on educating young people, strengthening their moral and social awareness, and transmitting core values deeply rooted in Angolan culture and society—such as solidarity, community spirit, responsibility, and respect.

Through cultural, educational, and social initiatives, A.A.I.O develops opportunities for youth, especially those growing up in vulnerable circumstances. The organization implements programs in education, health promotion, vocational training, agricultural development, and social support, always with the aim of helping young people build independence and participate actively in the development of their communities.

A key strength of A.A.I.O lies in its ability to build sustainable partnerships. Over the years, the organization has worked closely with:

  • The Angolan government and local governmental institutions

  • Masfamu (Ministry of Social Action, Family and Promotion of Women)

  • The education and health sectors, including schools, hospitals, and health centers

  • Agricultural and environmental services, developing programs related to food security, agricultural training, and ecological awareness

  • Cultural institutions, universities, and research centers

  • Municipal administrations and local leaders across various provinces

  • Companies and private-sector partners supporting social and community projects

  • A wide network of professionals such as agronomists, veterinarians, sociologists, psychologists, anthropologists, teachers, and medical doctors, who contribute their expertise to create sustainable, high-impact initiatives.

Through these broad collaborations, A.A.I.O ensures that its work is deeply rooted in Angolan society. The result is an organization that not only provides support, but also builds connections, strengthens capacities, and empowers communities.

 

With more than thirty years of experience, A.A.I.O remains committed to guiding, inspiring, and supporting young people, enabling them to grow into responsible citizens who actively contribute to a stronger and more equitable Angola.
