OUR FARMERS

Since 2020, we've been working with 20 farmers in seven provinces of Angola. We believe it's important to introduce you to the people who grow our coffee. This way, you'll see the faces behind the coffee you drink every day.

Besides a fair wage for their work and harvest, we also believe it's important to provide our farmers and their families with an income. We believe that income consists not only of the money earned from growing the coffee beans, but also, where necessary, of support for basic needs: the right to shelter, clothing, food, and education. As a company, we are committed to this: Mauro Mfutila and Stefan Mladenovic's dream is to ensure that the farmers and their families achieve a great deal through their partnership with Mfutila Coffee, and that together they contribute to the reconstruction of Angola and the expansion of the country's knowledge and skills. This starts with the children, and therefore with the families of our farmers. We'd like to introduce a few of them to you.

In Angola, it's not customary to be addressed by your first name. Your surname is often used as a form of address.

Rosa is responsible for the Arabica beans in the town of Andulo, in the Bie province. Arabica beans grow much higher than Robusta, at an altitude of 2,000 meters. It takes longer for a new Arabica tree to mature sufficiently to produce good beans, an average of 5-7 years. For Robusta trees, this is 2-3 years.

People like Maria Rosa, who, together with other farmers in Angola, ensure high-quality beans, are indispensable to our organization. They possess the knowledge they pass on to the younger generation of farmers, tenants, and plantation owners.

Futi is 63 years old and works as one of the employees on our plantation in Quilenda, Cuanza Sul. She has worked on the plantation for years and knows the beans and the weather conditions that influence their ripening and flavor like no other. Her knowledge is indispensable in obtaining a fantastic-tasting Robusta bean.

Zacarias manages several plantations in the city of Quilenda, in the province of Quanza Sul, where he is responsible for the Robusta beans. Our Robusta beans are grown there at an altitude of at least 700 meters. The climate in Quanza Sul, combined with the altitude at which the trees grow, creates a distinctive flavor characteristic of Robusta coffee from Angola.
